The core meaning is “leg.” For body parts, ขา generally covers the limb from the hip to around the ankle, while เท้า means the foot below the ankle. The same word extends to leg-shaped parts such as furniture legs and pant legs. In travel expressions, it marks one leg or direction of movement: ขาไป is the outward trip, ขากลับ the return trip, ขาเข้า the inbound direction, and ขาออก the outbound direction. In expressions such as ขาประจำ, it labels a regular participant or a recognizable type of enthusiast. This person-labeling use is colloquial and usually occurs in a compound or short phrase.
