Explanation
กี่ asks “how many” or “what number,” and โมง is used in telling clock time. Together they mean “what time.” Use ตอนนี้กี่โมง to ask the current time. To ask when an action will happen, กี่โมง normally follows the verb or clause, as in คุณจะมากี่โมง (“What time will you come?”). It is a standard everyday expression. For a polite direct question, male speakers can add ครับ and female speakers can add คะ at the end.
Usage
It is widely used to ask the current time, arrange meetings, check departure or arrival times, ask about daily schedules, and find out when a store or facility opens or closes. It also works in indirect questions.
Caution
กี่โมง asks for a point on the clock. To ask how many hours something takes or lasts, use กี่ชั่วโมง. Also, Thai tells time differently across parts of the day, so an answer is not always formed simply with a number plus โมง.
